My next teaching job

Sure, but that isn't what you actually want. You want to work with people who are ready and willing to get educated. If you're not in the place to fight those who don't even want to learn, you could be putting those kids at risk because you don't even want to do your job anymore. That could turn into a lack of passion for what you're doing, which could manifest in negative ways you might not even notice. Maybe you won't spend as much time grading, maybe you won't make yourself available as often or when the kids need it, who knows. The simple point is that if you aren't into something like teaching that more or less requires passion, you might actually be doing the kids a disservice by sticking where you are.

Mr. Gaskell, I ask my self what’s happening to public urban education in the state of Colorado or in the United States for that matter. Dropout rates are higher than ever test scores are lower than ever and more and more school are at risk of being shut down. From my personal experience I know that there are hundreds of students out there that go to school, but learning or receiving an education isn’t a priority to them. I also understand that its not you’re job to motivate or baby-sit them. The problem goes back to their childhood. I think it’s the parents fault for their lack of interest and commitment towards their children’s education.Theres very little we can do to help them out. However, Mr. Gaskell we need people like you’re self, teachers like you’re self. I really think you can make a difference and impact the life of some students, students like my self. I graduate in the fall from the DU with bachelors in finance. I was once a student that didn’t care about an education and now look at me. Its teachers like you’re self who encourage students like me, so don’t give up. I just want to tell you that criminals and thieves they never give up or take vacations, so why should we.
